    Affinergy Appoints Two Vice Presidents to Leadership Team


    RESEARCH TRIANGLE PARK, N.C., March 26, 2008 - Affinergy, Inc., a Duke University spinout with a proprietary site-specific biological delivery system, announced that it has appointed two Vice Presidents to its leadership team as part of its continued growth towards a product development company. Dr. Carmella S. Moody has joined Affinergy as VP of Regulatory & Quality Assurance and Dr. Bud Nelson has been promoted to VP of Intellectual Property.

    Dr. Moody has more than 20 years experience in the life science industry, primarily in the regulatory and clinical areas. She has previously had positions of increasing responsibilities in regulatory affairs, quality, and clinical trials with Constella Group, NextGen Pharma, Glaxo Wellcome, Covance Biotechnology Services, and Cato Research. Dr. Moody has additional experience in product development across a wide range of therapeutic indications. She earned her B.S. from the College of Charleston and earned her M.S. and Ph.D. in Microbiology from NC State University.

    Dr. Nelson has over 13 years experience as an intellectual property attorney in the biotech and pharmaceutical industries, and 7 years experience as corporate legal counsel. Prior to joining Affinergy, he was Vice President, R&D and IP, at BioCrystal Ltd., and Chief IP Counsel at Trimeris, Inc (NASDAQ: TRMS). In addition to building and protecting IP, Dr. Nelson innovates in research and development, and is co-inventor on 10 issued U.S. patents. He earned a Ph.D. in Immunology and Microbiology as well as his law degree at the University of Buffalo.
