Affinergy Recruits Additional Scientific Leaders, Buys Assets, and Moves to Larger Facilities to Support Growth
RESEARCH TRIANGLE PARK, N.C., July 12, 2006 - Affinergy, Inc., a Duke University spinout with a proprietary site-specific biological delivery system, announced completion of several activities to continue its growth and development. Affinergy has hired key scientific leadership staff to support partner projects and execute its growing grant-funded research programs. Affinergy has also purchased the physical assets of a biotech company and signed a 5 year lease for a facility with advanced scientific infrastructure consisting of approximately 20,000 square foot.
"Mike, Hanne, Shri, and Quinn are experienced professionals who add great talent to Affinergy's team," said Peyton Anderson, Affinergy's CEO. "We believe these key new members of our leadership team will allow us to accelerate our growth and development. They bring specialized skills and broad based experiences that will help us execute our growing number of programs."
Mike Anwer is Affinergy's Section Head of Production Chemistry with responsibilities for synthesis, purification, and scale-up. Dr. Anwer has 17 years of industry experience with peptide & GMP production since earning his Ph.D. at the University of Louisville. He is relocating from Pennsylvania.
Hanne Gron is joining Affinergy as Section Head of Biology with responsibilities for Project Management for partners, grants, and internal programs. Dr. Gron has 15 years experience in protein and peptide biochemistry. She earned her Ph.D. from the University of Copenhagen.
Shrikumar Nair joined Affinergy as Section Head of Discovery Chemisty where he will be responsible for creating and optimizing new chemistries for Affinergy's peptide linker systems. Dr. Nair has 10 years of medicinal chemistry experience since earning his Ph.D. at SUNY at Buffalo. He is relocating from Massachusetts.
Quinn Wickham is Affinergy's Director of Preclinical Studies responsible for determining protocols and selecting collaborators. He is also responsible for all grant related submissions and support activities. Dr. Wickham earned his MD and BS from Duke University and recently completed 2 years of his Orthopaedic Surgery Residency Program at Duke.
