Affinergy Selected to Present at Convergence: The Drug/Device Summit
Affinergy's site-specific biological delivery system will be showcased to corporate partners, prospective investors, and industry thought leaders.
RESEARCH TRIANGLE PARK, N.C., January 19, 2005 - Affinergy, Inc., a Duke University spinout with a proprietary site-specific biological delivery system, has been selected to present at Convergence: The Drug/Device Summit. Affinergy was chosen due to its unique capabilities to enable "combination products", which incorporate both a medical device and a therapeutic agent. Drug eluting stents are the most well known combination product with sales approaching $4 billion.
"Affinergy has made tremendous progress in our first year of operations and we are delighted to demonstrate our abilities to this targeted group of thought leaders," said Peyton Anderson, CEO of Affinergy. "Affinergy looks forward to sharing announcements about new customers and scientific milestones at this conference. We have attracted significant customer interest in a number of large and diverse markets. Affinergy's focused activities in 2004 to expand our intellectual property position, secure grant funding, and build our core management team has built a great foundation for growth and commercial success in 2005. Our team is excited to accelerate its success through preclinical programs and multiple partnerships this year."
"The convergence of drugs and devices is fundamentally enabled by our core competency, mediating adhesion of biologicals and localizing delivery of therapeutic agents," Anderson continued. "Affinergy's biofriendly technology compares very favorably with other options when it comes to localizing delivery of sensitive biologicals such as proteins, peptides, and cells. The simple technique of applying our materials and the consistency of coverage are unmatched in the field. Affinergy's ability to enable multi-functional delivery systems provides tremendous benefits to our partners. We have a number of unique competitive advantages that can be exploited by our commercial partners."
Affinergy recently relaunched it s website at www.affinergy.com to provide greater information and clarity about the details of it site-specific biological delivery system.
