Affinergy Selected to Present its Platform Technology at Venture 2004 Conference

Advanced coatings technology to be showcased at the southeast's premiere investor conference.

RESEARCH TRIANGLE PARK, N.C., January 6, 2004 - Affinergy, Inc., a biomaterial coatings company with unique capabilities to regulate biological processes on the surface of synthetic materials, announced today that it has been selected as a presenting company at the Venture 2004 Conference sponsored by the Council for Entrepreneurial Development. Affinergy was among the first 6 companies selected to present at the Conference on April 27-28, 2004.

"Affinergy has exciting technologies that address significant market opportunities," said Peyton Anderson, CEO of Affinergy. "We have already generated strong investor interest because of our relatively low capital requirements, our diverse range of market opportunities, and the potential for recurring high-margin revenues. Affinergy has a focused plan for advancing our science and commercial relationships early in 2004 and looks forward to sharing our progress at Venture 2004."

"The Venture 2004 Selection Committee is seeking high growth companies from an array of industries that are looking to raise either initial or subsequent rounds of professional equity capital," said Mike Elliott of the Wakefield Group. "Affinergy's technology appears to have great potential and we're excited to include them as part of our first group of presenting companies."

Venture 2004, scheduled for April 27-28 at the Friday Center in Chapel Hill, NC, is the Southeast's premier venture financing conference. Presented by CED with support from UNC Kenan-Flagler Business School and the National Venture Capital Association, Venture 2004 will continue a 21-year tradition of showcasing North Carolina's hottest investment opportunities to hundreds of venture capitalists and financiers from throughout the United States. Since 1999, Venture presenters have raised over $1.5 billion in venture capital. In addition to company presentations, Venture 2004 (www.cednc.org/venture) will include leading industry speakers, extensive networking opportunities and exclusive investor-only events.
